Faith Families

Faith Families

Faith Families are an important part of the faith formation experience at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic School. Each Faith Family consists of at least one student from every grade level and a faculty member who serves as the family leader. Faith Families meet monthly to grow in faith through prayer, learning, service, and relationship-building.

The goals of Faith Families are to:

  • Learn, practice, and live our core values: We Pray, We Learn, We Serve

  • Build meaningful relationships among students and staff across grade levels

  • Foster a sense of belonging by ensuring every student has trusted peers and adults within the school community

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and our school’s mission

  • Encourage older students to serve as positive role models for younger students

Through Faith Families, students develop connections beyond their classrooms and grade levels, helping them feel known, supported, safe, and loved. These gatherings provide opportunities for students to pray together, learn from one another, and strengthen the sense of community that makes St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic School a special place.

Faith Family activities and lessons are intentionally designed to support students' spiritual growth and are informed by schoolwide faith formation data, including ACRE assessment results and the Diocese of Des Moines Second Grade Religion Assessment. This allows us to focus on areas of growth while deepening students' understanding of Catholic teachings and practices.
