Kids Create
We are excited to partner with Kids Create to offer an After School program that will include both visual arts and culinary arts.
Class Description
This 1-hour after school program is 1/2 culinary arts and 1/2 visual arts, centered around a fall theme. During the visual art sessions, students will improve their understanding of color theory, practice shading to create the illusion of form, and create a fun fall-themed acrylic painting on canvas. We'll enjoy taking inspiration from apples, leaves, pumpkins, and other natural objects.
During the culinary sessions, students will explore some of the season’s favorite flavors. We’ll investigate apples, discover where maple syrup comes from, and explore pumpkins and the spices that give fall treats their signature flavor. Along the way, students will practice cooking skills, participate in hands-on food experiments and taste tests, and make delicious no-cook recipes including apple nachos, a maple-inspired treat, and no-bake pumpkin cheesecake cups.
We will rotate back and forth with one week being culinary arts and the next one visual art. Our first session on September 8th will be visual art.
